Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do you offer in-person tutoring in addition to online tutoring?Yes. While we tutor the majority of our students online, we do offer in-person tutoring for students located in parts of South Florida (Broward and Palm Beach County). You can contact us directly for more information regarding in-person tutoring.
-
Do you offer a 'score guarantee' like other companies? No. Most of the 'score guarantees' offered by other test prep companies are not really guaranteeing much if you read the fine print. At Gradeful, our students improve an average of 14 points per hour tutored on the SAT and 1/3 of a point per hour tutored on the ACT. What we can guarantee is that you will be working with the most updated curriculum and be learning the most effective strategies to help boost your score.
-
Do I always work with the same tutor?Yes. We believe in having our tutors and students build a solid relationship during their time together. The only way this can be achieved is by having students work consistently with the same tutor.
-
How many hours of tutoring do I need to get a good score? As you might expect, the answer to this question depends on a couple of different factors. Namely, what your current score is and what your target score is. With that being said, we've found that most students need between 10-20 hours of tutoring in order to make significant improvements.
-
Do you assign HW?Yes. Every tutoring session is accompanied by a personalized HW assignment that is expected to be completed before the next meeting. These assignments can take anywhere between 30-90 minutes to complete.
-
How much does tutoring cost? Do you offer discounts or tutoring packages? Our hourly rate for tutoring will vary, depending on which tutor you are working with. For our most up-to-date tutoring rates and availability, please contact us by phone (561-900-6217) or email (contact@gradefultestprep.com). We also do not offer any tutoring packages, we simply bill for the hours tutored on a weekly basis.
-
Can I prepare for the SAT and ACT at the same time?Yes. There is a lot of crossover in the content tested on both tests. With that being said, we recommend sticking with one after having tried both out and seeing which suits you better.
-
Which test is easier, the SAT or ACT?In our opinion, the ACT is slightly easier for most students. The level of difficulty of the ACT Reading Passages tends to be lower than that of the SAT.
-
Do I need to purchase any additional material before tutoring? No. We will provide you with all the material needed, including Official SAT/ACT Tests, Gradeful's "Cheat Sheets", Answer Explanation Videos, etc.
